Dark and odd, between short story and novella, there's always something slightly or obviously wrong going on, and you feel it in the language of the book. Subtle horrors, maybe too subtle for me. But well written and intriguing how the stories snake around each other.

A book full of beautiful moments about love and art set in a complicated place (a house full of terrorists and hostages) where some kind of strange and decadent ennui falls over everyone, and brief new lives are experienced until they aren't. I found a lot of magic in this one.

A selection of dense occultish/academic/philosophical tracts and personal essays that widen the idea of what black metal is and who the scene represents. Sometimes I felt like I was lost in a thick swamp of words, other times I was frantically nodding my head in agreement, and even more times I was writing down names of authors and bands that I need to look up. Black metal is for everyone and this is a fascinating and head spinning read about the genre.
