A great second instalment in the series. Jude navigating the royal courts along with the betrayal, romance, secrets and scheming that comes with it. Love Cardan. Big fan of this series!

A book I’ve wanted to read for a long while now, which was most certainly worth the wait. An extraordinarily personal and sensitively described tale of two people whose life intertwined and their love seems to transcend everything. The writing and descriptions were phenomenal.

Loved the world envisioned in this series. The plot really didn’t pique my interest until “book 2” (second half). When it got going it was good! Really cuts to the chase then. 3.5-4 stars

A very jarring read post pandemic. This was so intense. I really loved the themes of finding home in a city, the drone mentality of capitalism, an immigrant’s experience moving to the US and family. The ending felt… unsatisfying in a way, maybe a bit rushed. But it doesn’t take away from the rest of the novel. Very good, 4 stars.

Wanted to read this before I watched the film with Florence Pugh. It’s undeniably an Irish tale… slow paced, dreary, dark and mysterious. It’s drenched in Religion too. I did enjoy it, but one would definitely have to be in the mood for it.
