I am genuinely upset that I didn't like this book. It seems like all of my friends and most of the people I know that have read this book have absolutely adored it, and I just didn't. I LOVED the writing about the marsh and nature and the way Kya felt connected to it - I definitely think that was the best part of the book.

But the plot was just so lackluster for me. Kya was clearly the most interesting character and she had horrible people around her - except for Jumpin' and Mabel. They were easily the best characters besides Kya. Also, the fact that Jodie was brought back, it just felt like he didn't add anything to the story really. I hated Chase, obviously, and I didn't really like Tate all that much either. The ending felt super rushed, especially in comparison to how detailed the beginning was.

I just didn't like this book. I think that if I didn't like the writing about the marsh so much, I'd be giving it a one instead of a two.
