I absolutely adored the first book in this series and was so excited to read the second. Unfortunately, this book is a disappointment compared to the first and I am unsure if I'll bother to read the third. 
There's elements that were enjoyable.

such as meeting Philippe, Matthew's vampire father. However, I'm not a fan of pregnancy plot tropes and it turned me off entirely

. The plot doesn't truly pick up until the halfway point. This book had potential but missed the mark, sadly.

Too many inconsistencies and not enough context or explanation. It was confusing to keep up with.
