Going into this book, I truly didn’t think I would enjoy it. As much as I had heard good things, historical fiction isn’t normally all that enjoyable to me. However, the character of Elizabeth Zott is one I will not soon forget. She is one of the strongest and most inspiring female main characters I have read about in a long time. Through her struggles in the book, from beginning to end, she continually refuses to let the egos of men stop her from achieving her goals. She ends up adjusting only slightly in order to support her small and meaningful family and ends up inspiring family across the country in doing so. She has shown me that no matter how many no’s are thrown your direction, perseverance and dedication to yourself and your work can bring you further than those naysayers ever thought you could go.
