I always admired Dickens for his writings on social causes and what he did to uplift the cause of poor and orphaned children. Great Expectations is no different in that representation. Also, beautiful is the character study in this book. It was because of these great expectations that I was surprised to see the latter part fo book dedicated chiefly to plot, and that too very dramatic plot. This took away a bit from my enjoyment though I completely understand that the story had to be wrapped up. Overall, I did have a lump in my throat and this will be a book to re-read.
