This is a perfect witchy story to add to your TBR this spooky season! Aline is a young witch who is able to communicate with ghosts and has been quietly helping others for years until she turns 30. When she is seen using her magic powers, she is invited to the mysterious town of Matchstick, which has lost its magic and only Aline can help to find it.

I received What Became of Magic as an audiobook ARC and had a great time listening to it. I liked the narrator a lot; she did a fantastic job. The vibes of this book were definitely witchy, making it a great fall read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC and for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook and been able to review it.

House of Ash and Bone
Author: Joel A. Sutherland
Publisher: Penguin Random House Canada
Publication Date September 5th, 2023.

A family from Amherst, NY inherits an old, creepy house in the middle of Vermont and decides to spend the winter holiday there. Seventeen-year-old Josephine must protect her family from Dorcas, the ghost of a witch who died three hundred years ago. I was blown away by how much I enjoyed this book. The author's vivid description created an eerie and immersive atmosphere that sent shivers down my spine. The plot was a rollercoaster of suspense and unexpected twists. This book could easily be adapted into a horror movie, love The Conjuring" vibes I got from it. The main character Josephine's journey of self-discovery is beautifully portrayed by the author, making her a character you can easily root for. Overall, if you are looking for an introduction to the horror genre or if you are an avid horror reader, you will love reading "The House of Ash and Bone"! I want to thank Net Galley and Penguin Random House Canada for the advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.

First I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher Bookouture for giving me the opportunity of listening an advance copy of this audio book. This is my first book by author G.N. Smith. This book is 1 of 3 in the Fiona MacLeish series. The protagonist Fiona is a Scottish Cop who was force to take some time off back home with her Aunt Mary after the dead of her co-worker. During her time off at her aunt house a storm cause a flood that traps all the residents of the valley and a series of murders occur.

This a slow burn crime fiction pack with suspense, I couldn't stop myself from listening.
The narration work on this audiobook was great, love the Scottish accent of the narrator.

I am looking forward to read the remaining books on this series.
