Heard good things about this book, but ultimately went into it blind and I’m so glad I did. Writing style was so enjoyable to read, and the story was beautifully written and ridiculously intriguing. I couldn’t put it down. Some parts are painful and incredibly real, and dark, but it didn’t feel violent for the sake of violence (or senseless glorification). Colourful characters and amazing world building paired with unique narration puts this as a 5-star read for me.

Not my cup of tea, weird sexual language used when talking about Mira’s father. Veered into something more religious than I personally cared for, and seemed to preach “traditional family values”. Some parts just nonsense rather than profound. A few good bits here and there about grief, but it seemed like two different ideas for two different novels got mixed together. Would’ve been interested to read them separately but together it was hardly tolerable.
