The Apocryphal Gospels: A Very Short Introduction by Paul Foster
informative
slow-paced
3.0
A very straightforward analysis of the most well-known non-canonical gospels. Includes scholarly commentary instead of the speculative theorizing that is popular in many books on the subject.
However, the book is extremely dry and densely packed with information, so it can be a challenging read for anyone not casually aware of the subject.

This volume continues the high-quality adaptation of Gaiman's novel into the comic book format. Beautiful artwork and straightforward tellings of the myths. I love this series!

A fantastic retelling of Lovecraft's "Horror at Red Hook," The Ballad of Black Tom is a quick but satisfying story of cosmic horror in 1920s New York City with a focus on the racial tensions of the time. I'm definitely going to be looking into more books from LaValle.
