I underestimated this book. It was chosen for my bookclub and I didn't think I would like it. Then I finished it in two days and was more captured by it than I have been by a book since I was a child. This book has incredible story telling, handles complex topics with subtlty and care, and really revealed the core of it's characters. I've already recommended it to my sisters, my aunt, my partner, all my best friends, and I recommend it highly to anyone.

I would not recommend this book to anyone. It's portrayal of BPD is tinged with racism, ripe with sexism, and an overall inaccurate and damaging view of the disorder. Some of the techniques/ approaches it lists are helpful, but better understood outside the context of this book.
