Saw this on booktok/bookstagram. I love the concept that the author brought to this book, but personally the writing and language is unbearable. It seems like a book that began on Wattpad written by a 10 year old that got published. I MAYBE got 2 chapters in and had to stop because of how bad it was. The plot line moved insanely fast with the MMC basically falling in love with the MFC in the first chapter. I also hated that he called her “his kitten” within the first 5 seconds of talking to her. He also got creepily obsessive with her after spending 5 minutes with her alone as they watched his favorite movie and she falls asleep. I just couldn’t handle the toxic and possessive behavior of the MMC and the “I’m different than other girls” vibe from the MFC. Overall I DNF’ed the book.
Saw this on booktok/bookstagram and was so excited to read this book. Unfortunately for me the writing and language is unbearable. It seems like a book that was written by a 10 year old that got published. I don’t even know if I got 3-5 chapters into the book and had to stop because of how bad it was. The plot line was cringy and the characters personalities and interactions felt forced and unnatural. We learn early on (maybe within the first 1-2 chapters) that the MMC’s stepmom was sexually abusing him for years and it felt like the author was giving the MMC this trauma just for the sake of him having a bad family dynamic and a reason for him to be an angry “bad boy”. Overall I DNF’ed the book.
