Though I may not read many books from this genre, I will say that Naya's biography has this charm to it that you know she put her heart and soul into writing it. Her tone of voice especially in the audiobook version, is so enticing and makes her stories so entertaining. Naya has this charm about her that makes it seem as if your high school friends just catching up over a cup of coffee.

There is so much i loved about this book from the chemistry between the characters to the actual stakes full of suspense. I really appreciate Berry for placing valuable historic notes at the end of the novel and how she interpreted real life events to make this story. A captivating and heartwarming historical romance i can’t help but recommend.

I really did want to like this novel. The concept was interesting, despite being very similar to many other YA novels, (ex. Red Queen). What stopped me from liking this novel was its poor execution. The book fails to invest in its characters and skims over important world building that would really help to immerse the audience into the story. I really liked how the book quickly jumped into Adelina's struggles in the beginning however this also made the remainder of the story drag on. I admire the choice to make Adalina a flawed character, however I feel it wasn't explored as well as it should have been. As a whole, The Young Elites had a lot of potential but didn't necessarily meet the mark.
