Let's be honest, who doesn't love a book with a mind reading monkey? That's what I thought, nobody.

It seemed too similar to [b:The Monster at the End of this Book|44186|The Monster at the End of this Book (Sesame Street)|Jon Stone|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388193494s/44186.jpg|640276], but not in a good way. Particularly the "Very Heavy Rock" & "Oh, you are very strong" pages. I was looking forward to this one because I love "Monster" so much, but this one just didn't really measure up.

This is a fun one because while it appears that squid kid is doing magic we learn actual facts about different ocean animals. Plus he and his sister are adorable.

Such drama, much suspense! Definite preschool read aloud potential. *adding to running ninja theme *

I love, love, love the illustrations! So whimsical, adorable, and fun! But I think my favorite thing about the illustrations in this book is the way actual sheet music is incorporated for the birds' speech bubbles. Very clever.
