This was a great finale to the duology.  It felt just as impactful as the first and remained true to the characters.  My only complaint was that there wasn't as much build up to the culminating event as I'd have liked.  Instead it felt like there were several major events in a row and it made the book drag a touch.  I still enjoyed it immensely.

I was a bit worried at first because the Vanja is a bit hard to like and seemed too stubborn and one minded for a good character arc.  I will happily say I flew through the ending of this and the ending is absolutely worth it! I really love the magic and Gods in this story and the romance is sweet without being over the top.

This felt like it was written by a frat boy in the worst kind of way.

True to the T. Kingfisher vibe which I am 100% down for.  It was slow and melodic without being a bore.  It was dark without being depressing.  I cannot express how much I love the balance this author has achieved in their work.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 32%.
SOOOO much ship terminology that I could not have cared less about.  I wanted action but it took 90 pages for the ship to leave the dock and then it was still all jargon.  I kept skimming paragraphs looking for something to latch onto and hoping for action.  I decided to put it down finally at page 130 when the actions started and I was still somewhat confused by the language.

This was a hard book to read but absolutely worth the weeping! It is so honest that its gut-wrenching.  I cannot imagine the strength it took to put all of that on paper for anyone to read.  It is incredible.  Not only that, its well-written.  My top book of the year so far.
