Super cute! Sally always delivers with whit and quirky banter, that had me actually laughing out loud. Quick, wholesome, easy read!

Absolutely loved this! One of my all time favorite books. Never has a book made me laugh so much. I couldn’t put it down and read it in a day. Won’t stop recommending this to everyone.

With high fantasy books, sometimes the world building can make getting into the book difficult. However, with City of Brass, the author did an amazing job of writing complex world building while keeping the story engaging. I absolutely loved a dive into Western lore, with Dijinn (basically genies), royalty, politics, betrayal, and a whole world/magic system. Gave me Aladdin vibes and felt like a unique story I’ve never seen before. Overall it’s more plot driven than character driven (I prefer character driven stories) but I still loved it. Wish we would have gotten more character development between Nahri and Dara, but with the way this one ended I have a feeling book 2 will be more character driven.

I wanted to like this more but just felt like the character development wasn’t there and the ending was not good. The beginning and idea was great, after the war had ended Rosalind, a female physicist struggling with what her science created, trying to get back into work in a male dominated field, ex boyfriend boyfriend being investigated by the FBI as a potential Russian spy. Charles returns home from the war, dealing with his trauma, joins FBI, is looking into Rosalinds ex boyfriend. Charlie’s recruits Rosalind to help his investigation.

SPOILERS:

Naturally, Rosalind and Charlie do fall in love. However, the majority of the story is spent with Rosalind struggling with her feelings for Weaver (her ex), and Charlie struggling with his memories from the war. Then all of a sudden in the last little bit of the book Charlie and Rosalind finally get together, then Rosalind takes a job and is moving away, then boom the end. There was basically 0 development of the relationship between the 2 of them except for the night Charlie stayed in her apartment and they talked about his time in the war. There was more focus on Charlie’s past traumatic war experiences than and type of relationship development between the two MC’s. Just wasn’t well written, but had so so much potential.
