This might be my fav entry of the entire folk of the air series. It’s a character study on cardan basically told through a bunch of stories from his past and present. Super amazing go read

THIS BOOK UGHHHHH!!!!! I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing from start to finish!! I really liked this book and was pleasantly surprised since I didn’t enjoy the first book and skipped the second opting to watch a 3 hour plot recap on YouTube instead (whoops lol I plan to read it I promise) the only part I didn’t rlly like was the whole cardan turning into a giant serpent and it being resolved by slaying the serpent. It just didn’t make much sense and felt a bit lazy tbh other than that I loved this and would recommend it!! The author grew alongside the characters and it showed a lot! And finally at the end of this review I’d like to add one of my fav snippets.
“I start to speak, but he stops me with a gesture. “And you.” He looks at me, his lips curving in something that’s not quite a smile; it’s more and less than that. “I knew little else, but I always knew you.” And when he kisses me, I feel as though I can finally breathe again”

this book. This book. so many emotions were felt
If she were dead, I would know.
Like that line broke me I’m so ?\€]*~2!:8:8
The way Rebecca Ross knows how to completely obliterate your heart and mend it back together careful not to rip the stitches but pull them just enough to hurt. AHHHHHHH this duology will forever have a place in heart!! I cannot wait to read Ross’s other works in the future :)

I am DEAD. Bro this book broke me and put me back together in the span of two days. I cannot wait for the sequel (which I know will break my heart but whatever if reading this duology makes me a masochist then so be it) it's genuinely a good read I'm glad I finally picked it up
