This shit is booooomb if you are a dracula nerd and lover of the original story but always wished the heavily implied sapphic relationship of Lucy + Mina was more opaque this is for you
this book made me physically sick to my stomach, it was so heartbreaking. It's so hard too when something like this is so relatable because you're reading it like screaming at the narrator, the same way you would scream at your younger self, you know? Really amazing writing and very riveting for a memoir, I really could not put it down. I took 1 star off for personal reasons that aren't 100% in fair judgement of the book but there were a couple things that irritated me that are probably not worth writing down. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you are someone who potentially has found yourself in a relationship that makes you feel unsafe, you are not alone and leaving IS AN OPTION!!
I love this book but I don't really feel like I learned anything new. It was definitely a magical collection of cynicism and doomerism told in really beautiful prose. The writing itself was fantastic but I really liked the parts about how horror actually functions in the brain the most and though that was a huge theme i feel like I wanted more about that instead of about how no one should have kids because we are just puppets slave to biodeterminism (we all know that already yk).
Idk i definitely really prefer her horror stories in Cursed Bunny, these were more classic sci-fi and they just didn't hit me the same. Cursed Bunny altered my brain. The story abt the elevator tho ðŸ˜
so beautiful and strange, like a combination of Perfect Blue and Paradise Rot. Delicious prose on parasocial relationships and fanatic stans! The ending was so horrible.
idk this was pretty boring. Not super fun to read about a pedophile woman just like being annoying and stupid for this long. I absolutely loved 'The Girls' so I'm disappointed but w/e.
