This book gave me 1984 vibes, which I enjoyed. I'll admit it had a slow start and didn't pick up until part 2 (110 pages in) but once Lady Mae became The Butcher I was loving it.

I picked up this book expecting wild west horror but instead got wild west dystopian horror with lots of emotion and important message and lessons.

I am so sad this story is over. This was such a fantastic debut. Oh my goodness that was adorable and wacky and fun and so, so unique!

I was completely engrossed by the setting, the characters, and the plot. I'm excited to experience more of the world of horrific fairy tales Elizabeth King introduces.

This story was so cute and beautifully written.

The Wizard of Oz comparisons and similarities weren't obvious to the point that this read like a retelling, it was more "inspired by." But I loved the characters especially the modern day, heartless tin man.

Nothing I say can do this story the justice it deserves, it was just perfect in my eyes.
