I enjoyed this. Zahra wasn’t my favorite idk just wasn’t. Very naïve for someone her age and “wasn’t like other girls.” A lot of her jokes didn’t hit with me and this whole book is an HR nightmare. I did enjoy Rowan and how secretly sweet he was. I will be reading the rest of the series but yeah i have no doubt the others will hold up better. I did enjoy some parts but idk.

“You like me," I blurt out.
"No. I tolerate you more than most people. That's why I want to date you,”

“A kiss for a secret.”
“I’ve never heard of this game.”
I smirk.  “That’s because it’s exclusively ours.”

LADY ASHA COUNT YOUR MF DAYS BITCH
I LOVE YOU CARDAN AH MY SOUL

I urge you: Come be angry at a nearer distance.

Come home and shout at me. Come home and fight with me. Come home and break my heart, if you must.
Just come home.

Above me is the same silvery moon that shines down on you. Looking at it makes me recall the glint of your blade pressed against my throat and other romantic moments.

In my most wretched hours. I believe you will never come back.

I flattered myself that at moments you had feelings for me other than contempt, but even if that were true, they would be but water wine beside the feast of your other, greater desires.

And yet my heart is buried with you in the strange soil of the mortal world, as it was drowned with you in the cold waters of the undersea.
It was yours before I could admit it, and yours it shall ever remain.

my heart!!!! I love him so much.

“My sweet nemesis, how glad I am that you returned.”

Words cannot even explain how much the folk of the air series means to me and Jurdan in general. They are my heart and soul. It’s not even just the romance but the world feels like a dream you wish was reality. I feel as the though the people who love the folk of the air series once dreamed of finding secret worlds and dancing in the forest. Cardan and Jude are some of my favorite characters EVER. The epilogue actually felt perfect and I just love Holly Black so much. I will think of this series, characters and lore until my death. Rereading is a necessity not a want.

All hail the High King Cardan Greenbriar and his High Queen Jude Duarte. 💌🐍👑🗡️🧚🏼‍♂️🍇

Mock me all you like. Whatever I imagined then, now it is I who would beg and grovel for a kind world from your lips.” His eyes are black with desire. “By you, I am forever undone.”

And yet, if I love him, there’s only one choice.

But he holds me as though I am the only solid thing in the world.

He’s so beautiful, so perfectly horrible, inhumanely beautiful that I can barely breathe

“I love you,” I confirm.
“Because I am clever and funny,” he says smiling. “You didn’t mention my handsomeness.”

“I knew little else, but I always knew you.”

“But to traitors and oath breakers, I offer my queen’s hospitality instead. The hospitality of knives.”

okay.....so..... I LIKED IT SUE ME. was it jaw dropping literature? of course not. BUT I had so much fucking fun. They were lowkey cute? It feels sinful to say.... Aliens are hot! I will admit the first part threw me for a loop like the whole
rape by the basketball head aliens really hurt my head and was so disturbing. and the fact that consent doesn't seem to be a thing with the ice planet aliens... their meet cute would be on alien SVU

Vektal and Georgie were an interesting experience, I had fun I’ll admit it!! The intentional jokes didn’t work for me but the overall plot and everything was a comedy routine in itself. I really thought I’d hate it….. I’ve added the series to my ever extending tbr. I can’t believe a book exists with the phrase “alien nookie”. The more ya know?

Update:
After finishing this at like 1am, I had some really weird dreams. It feels related lmfao.

"That night we were reckless." His voice cracks. "But, God, I'd be reckless with you over and over again if it means ending up here."

All swagger and broad shoulders. Dark hair, darker eyes.

I bet his hands are rough. I bet he smells like leather.

“I could fucking bury whoever made you believe you’re as unlovable as you seem to think.”

“Because I fucking adore you. Haven’t you been paying attention?”

“Call your dog off, Eaton.” She keeps walking, only addressing Rhett, like I’m not even here. But goddamn, I love a challenge. I turn with a loud, “Woof!”

BEST ELSIE SILVER BOOK OH My GODDDD. Every book keeps getting better but I know nothing will top Theo and Winter for me, personally. Theo is THE book boyfriend, NO HUSBAND!! “Winter, we are a thing. We are the thing. We are it.” I love how Winter seemed so horrible in the first book but now she is my number one Elsie Silver girl to date. She is such a beautiful character that I will love until the end of time. Getting the grumpy sunshine experience is so perfect with sunshine boy and grumpy girl in this story. Theo and the entire storyline was heartfelt with also being knee-slapping hilarious.  “Careful, that one’s got claws,” Cade offers right as Willa shoves a pointy elbow into his ribs. I grin. “That’s okay. I like having my back scratched.” Their love story pulls on the heart strings and pants strings LOL. They were sexy and soulmate perfection.  I just love them so much. Theo is just perfect and the number one Chestnut Springs love interest.
I kept wishing they actually buried Rob six feet under but then I realized I need to read less dark romance. Also, Rhett was pissing me off and he's really low on my Chestnut Springs ranking after we met the other boys
I thought I hated the accidental pregnancy trope but Elsie Silver has me by the throat and I love it.

“It means . . . I live you. Like I see you everywhere, you are in everything. Our connection is more than physical.”

“I was in this exact spot when you gave me the best and hottest verbal lashing of my life. You were all wild eyes and fighting words. I thought I’d never seen a more heart-stopping fiery woman in my life. You were . . . well . . . you were mean. But I appreciated your spunk. That was the night I knew I wanted you.”

Lenin the sexy Russian hitman just doesn’t hit hahaha. this is like if wattpad and pornhub had an age gap love child. And honestly some of this was just NOT FOR ME. no further comments will be shared at this time…. LMFAO what the hell.

NICO AND ELENA ARE CUTE TO ME! this has been on my tbr for so long and it did not disappoint. A slow burn mafia made love story. The slow burn had me screaming and giggling. Nico is engaged to Elena’s sister which obviously puts a dampening on their connection, mostly physical.  They both assume many incorrect things about each-other and hide how they feel for like the entire book. When drama ensues, Elena ends up engaged to the brooding, rude Don while trying to hide her own secrets.   I loved how the third act conflict was put together like ugh it was done so well. I do think Elena was written with a bit too much internalized misogyny for my taste, just not the best way for a woman to be described. I really ship them. The tension was so tasty. The Sweetest Oblivion embodies angst, possessiveness, organized crime and strained family dynamics fed into an intriguing love story between sweet Abelli and Ace ♠️💞 I wished we had more Nico povs but otherwise I had so much fun :)))

“I would make this girl want me, need me, love me, because fuck if I was going at it alone.”

I hate to admit it but I felt really let down by the second installment. I kept cringing from the millennial humor and just how much I kept remembering how just weird the writing style felt. I enjoy a dark romance as much as the next girl but the
baby trapping was so gross to me
i kept being reminded I was in fact reading a book, it just didn’t suck me in. It felt forced. Hayden just didn’t feel like a real character I don’t know. I feel bad because the first book was so fun but idk??  I love when the MMC is psychotic let’s be real but I felt unsettled. I’m sorry Morgan Bridges!! It was hot sometimes but this one didn’t do it for me.

as the good lord said, save a horse….. anyways!!! I had such a fun time. Austin was such a sweetheart like this is truly the grumpy sunshine done right. Cecily, the FMC leaves her abusive husband to take a job on Wells Ranch. Where we get found family, fun side characters, small town happy vibes and just some good old fashioned smiles from the wholesomeness. They don’t get along at first bc he’s broody… (oh no I’m so shocked) but he comes to terms with how much he likes her relatively quickly but he’s a little expressively awkward. Which I found adorable. We follow Austin and Cecily falling in love while dealing with their individual traumas. How he was so patient about her trauma and they are just so sweet together. Just an adorable and heartfelt story. Wear the hat, ride the cowboy 🤠 I enjoyed City Girl & Not-A-Cowboy’s love story. Also, book two, Seeing Red is coming out in April!! If you wanna smile and feel soft…. Read this
