What a chilly thriller! This one kept me entertained, thrilled, and super cold throughout ;).
.
I can always depend on Ruth Ware for a quick, page-turning thriller. One By One is no different. Even though there is nothing particularly ground breaking about this book, I did enjoy it. The first half felt very Agatha Christie and the second half felt very No Exit. Neither half is executed as well as AC or No Exit, but those vibes kept me turning the pages. I also enjoyed the whole mystery of guessing whodunnit, one of my favorite things about a good suspense novel.
.
I'd def recommend this for a good winter thriller!

What a cute collection of short stories! Serendipity comprises 10 short stories, each depicting a different romance trope! The stories are YA, but I found them to be really uplifting and cute. Additionally, there is a lot of representation. This was a fun listen - thank you to Macmillan Audio for the ALC!

The Wayward Children series never disappoints. While this one dragged in certain spots, I still really enjoyed it and loved seeing a whole new side of the story. Some of the concepts were a bit confusing, but I am looking forward to seeing what is explained in the future books. I also loved some of the new characters. These books are surely must-reads!

Thank you so much to William Morrow for the gifted copy of Eight Perfect Murders!
.
2021 made me a Peter Swanson fan. I absolutely love The Kind Worth Killing - it is one of the most unique thrillers I've read - so continuing on to read Swanson's other work is a no brainer.
.
I generally enjoyed Eight Perfect Murders. What I think Swanson does so well is letting the readers inside his characters' heads, and that is definitely present in Eight Perfect Murders. In only 270 pages, I felt totally engrossed in Malcolm Kershaw's story and I felt like he had to be a real person. That is what I love about a Swanson novel.
.
Be warned, there are several literary references throughout the novel, and thus, several spoilers. Major spoilers are present for several Agatha Christie novels, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and several other older mystery novels that make up Swanson's "Eight Perfect Murders". Not a big deal if you don't mind spoilers, but I'd look ahead to make sure!

Remind me to never travel to a deserted island with this crew! PHEW!
.
I devoured this audiobook in just under 24 hours - I simply could NOT stop listening! (Thank you to Netgalley for the copy!) I just HAD to know what was going to happen!
.
Lux and Nico want to travel the world via Nico's boat, the Susanna, but before they do so, they need to make money to pay for the boat's repairs. This has left them stranded on Maui (not a bad place to be stranded imo) working odd jobs for cash. However, luck comes to them one night in the form of Amma and Brittany, offering Nico an exorbitant amount of money that will fix his boat, if only he takes two weeks and charters them to the island paradise, Meroe.
.
This is one of those stories where you are suspicious of everyone and everything. No character is particularly likable, but you wanna believe the best in someone. I found it engrossing and unputdownable, and while I guessed some of the twists, I didn't guess them all. This was also very atmospheric - Hawkins does a nice job bringing that creepy island to life - I felt stifled and suffocated throughout my "time" on the island.
.
This was the perfect thriller to start 2022 with - I rec this one to anyone looking for a creepy, atmospheric thriller!

Twelve books into this series and Taylor is still managing to reel me in, give all the OMG moments, and thrill with time travel and supremely interesting historical moments. Can't wait for Book 13!

One heck of a debut right here, folks!
.
I needed a thriller to break up some of the holiday cheesiness I've been consuming, and A Flicker in the Dark ended up being exactly the answer! A solid, bingeable thriller with good writing and some great twists! I didn't find anything about the story to be uber ground-breaking or even especially unique, but I couldn't put the book down and enjoyed making hypotheses throughout! To me, that's the mark of a good thriller!
.
This is Willingham's debut novel and I am totally impressed! Her writing is very atmospheric and chilling, and that was one of my favorite parts of the book! There were a few spots in the novel that I needed to turn more lights - creeptastic for sure! I can't wait to see what she writes next!
