I really struggled to get into this book initially - the writing came across as stilted and the pace was slower than I expected. Holy cow, am I glad I stuck it out. Through meticulous world building, Islington drew me in and kept me engaged through many twists and turns. This was a creative and suspenseful read, with a hell of a plot twist at the end. I can’t wait for book two to be released!

I just wanted more from this than it gave me. Lots of cool plot ideas but nothing was explored in depth - events happened quickly and there was no real impact in how they affected the rest of the plot or characters. The book just hopped from event to event to event to event… Not necessarily a bad book just maybe not my style of read any more.

Loved the depth of the characters and how natural yet profound their growth was as they journeys through the story

This book completely sucked me in. I devoured it fairly quickly. Brandon Sanderson has great talent in building unique worlds and magic systems and crafting compelling characters who run up against their own flaws, and this book is a great example of both.

A predictable romantic read where
everything works out in the end.
I found the story a bit surface level and cliche but did miss spending time with the characters once I was finished with the book.

Semiotics is unparalleled in its uniqueness. It is a largely hopeful narrative about what humanity has the potential to become set against the vibrant, imaginative backdrop of an alien world. A compelling narrative full of rich imagery, it’s a novel I would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in detailed world building and sentient plants.

Where are the women main characters?? This reads like a wattpad love story where only the heroine matters and all other women are secondary side characters who are either competition or the help. Even the
main villain was only an issue because she wanted Feyre’s man.
The author constantly refers to the other women in the novel as “females” so that should really tell you all you need to know. There is so much in this story that’s engaging, but the lack of diverse, strong, HELPFUL women really ruined it for me.
