Bad Monkey by Carl Hiaasen

A good book. Funny. Didn’t blow my mind or anything but it’s an easy enjoyable read. It hits different as a native Floridian and I feel like that’s half the charm of this book. A good summer read.
A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck

4.5 stars. Super quick easy read but very thought provoking. Kinda depressing. Reminds me of Piranesi except a little more hopeless. A strange premise but very good. Not much I can say about this 100 page book other than I enjoyed it.

This book… I think the more I sit with it the higher of a rating I’ll give it. It all feels worth it in the end, and I actually found myself wanting MORE because I had a hard time of letting go of the characters. But there are moments where it just drags too much. Too long, too boring. Found myself reading about characters I just didn’t necessarily care about every once in a while which made this book feel its length. However, Part 3 and 4 flew for me. That’s really where the book hit its peak. Heart wrenching, piercing, raw. Some of the best characters come in these sections and really make the book worth it. I’ll be thinking about it for a while. Also, my first Steinbeck !!! Started out with a long one but I’m glad I did it.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Like 3.5 rounded up I guess. It was good. I don’t really understand the magic system. I also don’t really like it. But maybe I just need to get used to it. Harry is cool. You can tell he’s written by a man but oh well I digress. I did like some parts of it. They say it gets better and I can see how there’s potential for this series. I will definitely continue, just probably not right away.

Added to my “wtf did I just read” list. I have no idea what happened. It was really good and compelling. I’m a lil mad I didn’t get more answers but I did watch Lost for 6 seasons so it’s okay I’m used to it and this gave similar vibes lowkey. Need to read the rest of the series in hopes it makes sense lol
