The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kann
4.0
i spent the whole book sooo frustrated with these characters and then realized that’s actually when a romance is at its best! this was a unique and enjoyable book. i wished we’d spent more time with the end-goal couple but it mirrors real life more this way.
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
i set this aside for too long and forgot everything that was happening 😪 maybe another time
The Loneliest Americans by Jay Caspian Kang
2.0
points were….almost made. unfocused and only seems concerned with some asian american groups (indians, one the largest asian diaspora groups in the country, barely get a passing mention). i dont expect the author to speak on behalf of experiences he doesn’t know but i guess i’d expect more journalistic rigor in that regard. the point about working class solidarity was important but mostly buried among the 200 pages of calling asian americans losers with no history.
