A Place to Belong: Celebrating Diversity and Kinship In the Home and Beyond by Amber O'Neal Johnston

Wonderful
A thorough, honest, and edifying book! She really takes the time to work through the "whys and wherefores" of some tough issues. I loved reading about how much her daughter influenced her thinking on these topics and how they address them in their own home. I've followed her Instagram account for some time but it was great to go deep. Highly, highly recommended reading.

Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole by Susan Cain

I loved Quiet so I was looking forward to this one, but it's just so-so. I was familiar with most of her anecdotes and literature references, and it's all sort of summed up in "It's okay to be sad". It felt like maybe something she really needed to work through after losses in 2020 but wasn't really quite ready to make a thesis out of. I frequently have sehnsucht and this felt like more of a justification for something the author felt guilty about than an exploration of the beauty of such feelings and thought patterns.
Obviously it's also missing what we're all really longing for: Heaven, and all things made new by the One who made us.

Excellent explanation of the way to read scripture. It would be a perfect gift for a new believer or anyone who has only been exposed to small reading out of context.
