I think I would have a higher rating if I had read this one before book 5 lol I enjoyed it but it just can’t top the Brandon/Nikolai romance. Loved the selective mutism aspect of the plot and great smut tehe

I enjoyed this so much that I’m gonna overlook the fact that Nikolai consistently refers to his dick as Kolya and the typos/errors throughout the book. Wasn’t sure I cared for the story at first but wowww did it rope me in lolol

I wanted so much for this to deliver what I was missing in the first one but instead I ended up hating every character except Simon??? Coen was unrecognizable, Dom was a total asshole, and Magnus was basically a sweet side character that occasionally said nice things to June. I think there was a better way to incorporate Simon into the harem lol. He also could have had a better intro to having feelings for her but instead it was ultra-insta-love… we didn’t even have his POV when he first met her in UV so I expected this book to close that gap but it was just like here’s a man that loves her and you don’t get to ask questions. This book also had the same long and redundant internal monologues as the first one, like how many times do we need to hear about the sweet blonde hair blue eyed boy crying at his mothers grave all those years ago. Oh and the plot twist was obvious about 20% into the book

Honestly wish this had better characters and more smut lol Magnus was the only one I liked and there were so many long internal monologues in the middle of scenes that were just sooo redundant and didn’t add to the development of the characters or plot. I read this bc I do love a reverse harem mafia romance but it didn’t really deliver the level of smut I was expecting and it didn’t make up for it in terms of plot. I definitely did go read the next one though so there’s that

Alright, I read this book specifically because I wanted to read a dark romance & that’s exactly what I got. Can’t say I’m mad at it either. Wasn’t the next great literary feat but what it lacked in plot, it made up for in smut.

Listen. I am just a hockey romance girlie and a why choose girlie and this was exactly what I wanted it to be so I’m not gonna go into a real review of it, I’m just gonna say that the smut delivered and I was happy with the pacing/balance even though 700+ pages seemed gratuitous given the plot line lol

I really enjoyed the writing style, although I did notice a few typos throughout and that’s always a bummer. I liked the plot and characters, but didn’t really feel like I connected with it and even though it’s mostly in Iris’s POV, I think Roman is a much more well-developed character. Interested to see where the plot goes in book 2!!
