What was that ending?! OMG, it actually gave me chills and made me SUPER EXCITED to continue... book 2 should be so good! 🤞
I just happen to love a/this divide (even though one side always gets a bad deal) of mortals and Descended in this book because I really just enjoy seeing people rise up for what's right
Diem is a bit of a mystery wrapped inside a fiery woman. She will not back down for those she loves and the people she serves as a healer. When she heals the Princess, she gets access to the Palace that most mortals don't. Prince Luther, he's stony and guarded but there is a weight on him I felt and I love to see the little chips and hunks breaking down near the end.
I could just tell what was going to happen between these two MCs. There was just a delicious tension with them. I liked their non-relationship more than the relationship between Diem and her childhood love, Henri.
There are many heart pounding moments and some fiery kisses and I just want more.

This is a TOUGH read but there is a bit of hope at the end.
Lena comes through Ellis Island from Germany and the treatment is terrible. She gets separated from her mother and brother (who get sent back home) because of the awful Eugenics program. (I never heard about this being done here in school .. this is history that is sadly being repeated in different ways ðŸ˜).
Lena cares for her mother's cousin's kids in the Blue Ridge Mountains where they are constantly threatened by the government, children being stolen from their homes, and made to feel like they have "inferior genes". I don't know how she survived all that she goes through.
Like I said, this book is tough. It's a hard story to swallow but also just so readable. I really felt bad for all these characters. You must read the author's notes... it makes you really feel that saying "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." and we are repeating it sadly and it's just terrible 😔.

This was a fun adventure book. Who wouldn't want to be treasure hunting with your celebrity crush author coming along?
Huck has lost his inspiration for his novels. He's in Iceland when he meets Stella, a treasure hunter trying to find an elusive lost treasure called the Elephant Heart. Huck and Stella spend one night together and then he disappears, just to reappear a year or so later and suddenly goes on the next expedition with Stella's crew.
Stella gets left behind a lot and it's very sad. I'm glad she had her "found family" of Teddy, Gus and Zoe. Huck has a sad part to his past too. I think it makes them draw near to each other. I saw a part of the ending coming from a mile away but didn't foresee the potential consequences (the real dangerous ones... the emotional toll I did see).

Another winner of a book from Sara!
Oh Ruth! How she made me laugh even when she was being the "monster"-in-law some women complain about. I could totally sense the frustration Barbara has with her though and I think that really appealed to me (maybe because my own MIL is quite wonderful and helpful in a way that is actually very helpful when needed).
Barbara was just doing her best after the loss of her husband. She had two wonderful young kids. She may, of course, have needed help for a bit after but did she really need her MIL to MOVE IN? But Barbara as a character was pretty classy and she was so good at being able to keep her cool even when I might have "blown a gasket" myself. Oh and can't forget sweet Eddie. So amazingly helpful and you could just feel his reasons shining through the page .
The conclusion was so heartwarming and I will miss these characters. Oh, plus the addition of a name and one character from previous novels showing up was a fun surprise.

This one was such a joy to read! Lucy and Elio and their slow burn romance during the F1 racing circuit is sweet. I really liked that Elio took the time to help Lucy learn about this sport she knows nothing about. I really love the deep dive Lucy gets on Elio and the person he really is, not as he's portrayed in the media.
I teared up a few times in this novel. It was bittersweet with Lucy getting to find her family that she unfortunately didn't know were around. The way that Matteo, Elio's younger brother, got to help him in a very personal way 🥰. I just love that Elio hero worshipped him. The sights and the general feel of Italy in this book really makes me want to visit!

This was a fantastic dual timeline. Vivian is an actress who wants to make it big in drama but finds her goldmine in comedy. She had her good friends, Ruth and Hugh by her side and help her navigate Hollywood. Margot is the present timeline and she finds tapes in her grandmother's attic along with letters to a TDH.
I really loved that Vivian's part of the story is told through her own words on tape. She goes through many ups and downs but she really does her best to not let the lows get her too much. She has a fascinating story to tell and it's worth it to find out what it meant for Margot.

I just loved this. I absolutely imagined Luke Wolfe as Roy and Abigail Hunt as Keeley (Ted Lasso iykyk) and it made me even happier reading this.
The start for their (Luke/Abigail) relationship is such a cop out (nicest word I can use online) from Luke's soccer team owners but I'm so glad it happened too. Don't worry, the owners get what's coming to them for their "hijinks".
Luke was the perfect combo of grumpy and sweet. Abigail is hilarious. I love how dedicated they are to their friends. I love this couple's "safe words" and how they just get more ridiculous. I love when Abigail finds out accidentally what's being held over Luke's head... the ways she tried to get even with him for hurting her.
I flew through this read and hope to read a lot more of this author.

A sports reporter, Kate, is doing a story with two tennis champs- Lucy and Brynn when one is kidnapped right before the US Open. Now she has to team up with her father, a former cop, and the FBI to find the one before it's too late.
I like the sports aspect of this mystery. This is my first book of this series but I can't help but admire Kate. Not only because of her own sports background but because she is a hard hitter and very smart. There are some twists that I didn't see and it was interesting trying to figure out who had it out for the kidnapped one. This was a smaller read and chapters were an okay length so I read it in a few hours.

Molly, after being fired from a job she pretty much has had it with, helps her sister Maisie out in their childhood home while she's on a babymoon. She finds a book called The Bad Luck Club but something feels off about it all. Thus she digs and finds that local contractor, Cal, actually started the club but won't reveal how secret or why he lets this other "author" get away with it.
This is a closed door romance that still packs a lot of heat. I really liked Molly. She's stubborn but funny. Cal lives with his dad after they both went through different losses and I really liked his dad. He was a great person. I am ok with a third act breakup but really wish Call would have just let Molly in on his "secret" sooner.

I didn't read book 1 which deals with Aspen who appears in this book but felt I didn't HAVE to. This is about her sister Sierra, who had a one night stand 4 years ago with a stranger whose name she never knew.... until she meets Kane as a set up and it's him! Game on!
Kane was put in a bad situation with work that had him to the OBX where Sierra lives and runs her store, Flirt. I love how she gets flustered and then proceeds to run away every time he appears to their group.
Kane is so not a "back down" type of person so he keeps pursuing her, hoping she'll give up and date him.
I loved the ending where they bring into play the movie "You've Got Mail" and how it is exactly like the situation Kane and Sierra are in. I absolutely got a kick out of Montgomery, the cat. But also from the way he acts, I feel a man was the one who did the poor thing wrong 😢
