🌲 One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig🌲

This duology has been super hyped up and I wanted to see why. Several close booksta friends said that I’d love this story, so let’s get into it!

🖤 Elspeth needs a monster. The monster might be her. 🖤

I have to say that I’ve started and put down this book several times, at no fault of its own. I’m an audiobook girlie, so I read along most of the time.

This audiobook was not for me. I hated the narration. The way that the narrator voiced the monster, her internal dialogue, and Elm was frustrating. It might not bother most, but I had to continue reading with my eyes. It was much more enjoyable for me that way.

Aside from the audio, this book was absolute gold and is probably one of the best books I’ve read this year. I loved all the characters (except the ones you’re supposed to hate). I loved the monster, his backstory, and how that storyline played out. I loved the complexities of the world building. There’s so much going on and it was a wild ride.

I also loved how dark it was. I went in almost completely blind and I encourage you to do the same.

If you like plot first, romance second in your fantasy, you will not be disappointed. The plotting is brilliant, dark, and captivating.
