i think the story was a bit lame. not fully fleshed out or just boring at points. also couldn't handle the sister, i don't know how am i supposed to read the second novel when i am not interested in following the sisters story. and to be completely honest the love story did not convince me and came to fruition way to quickly.

truly such a struggle to read since i am not well versed in 19th century french literary scene but i enjoyed myself. it is interesting how some of his ideas could still be well represented in contemporary media and i myself could relate. truly evoked some deep thinking on my part and it is funny to think that it is this book that dorian gray was obsessed with

the good thing is that i loved wendell the bad thing is that it might be the only character that i liked. the problem with this novel is that it just did not convince me to care about the protagonist. i admire the thirst for knowledge but she really did not love wendell and her connection to the villagers was flimsy at best. emily's priority will always be her research and that is okay but less charming when compared to all wendell is. other than that it is a cozy read but not exciting enough for me to pick the sequal up.

they could have been something but he just had to ruin everything...
in truth i love this so much. partly for the romance but it was actually the hunger games that was my favourite bit. to find the reason it was created, the circumstances and just how drab it was at the start. i am in shock how much the games changed in 60 years.
i do not even have anything to say about all the songs and the meaning behind them! and the hanging tree song!!
anyways it is a great book as always with suzanne collins

i don't think i have ever read anything like this. my thoughts are still scrambled and i am not sure whether this was a brilliant book for the time it was written for or is it still great and relevant today. the one thing i know is that this novel has narrators so unreliable it is insane

cute little mix of mysteries though it was hard to love all the stories because they were rather short thus guessing the culprit was not as much fun. i liked that it was not just one christie's character but different main characters each chapter. i realised how much i love marple! she is just a woman who loves to observe and i get that.

firstly let's just say that i would probably never had picked up this book myself it was simply a book club book of the month. my want to join the saud club entailed me reading the novel even if my expectations were low. my prejudices against the book proved to be right. i did not love any of the characters, like is also pushing it. i think the fact there were so many pov's contributed to the that. there was simply no way to connect to a character. the plot itself did not catch my attention until the very last chapters and then i could firmly say that i will not pick up the sequal. it seemed drawned out and the plot twist could be guessed a mile away. the marketing team tried their best to connect the novel hunger games. as if two are alike. this irked me a little because even though on the surface it might look like that but the hunger games trilogy is an excelent critique of our society while all of us villains could not manage even entertaining.
my earnest thanks to the person on reddit who summarised the second book.

just insanely exhilarating and tense, so immaculately crafted. to say that this is just a teen book is so insulting. the social commentary this novel provides is so in tune with the real world it is scary. chef's kiss indeed
also i love finnick odair
