Okay, wow, this was really good. Like Bree Van de Kamp turned up to something genuinely unsettling. The entire book follows the protagonist obsessively psychoanalyzing her husband of 15 years, crafting every interaction and every detail of their domestic life just to feel in control and reassure herself that he still loves her. She spends every waking minute plotting and scheming, going to unimaginable lengths to save her marriage (which, isn’t even in trouble). It did get a bit repetitive about 3/4 of the way through, but the epilogue flips everything around with a big plot twist - and just when you think she's simply overthinking, it turns out that while she is, her fears aren't entirely baseless - making for a really satisfying ending.

the punk rock part was boring, so was the monster movies part... and the zen part... he goes off on unnecessary tangents and his anecdotes are not that entertaining. he's much better on youtube, this book really sucked, sorry brad :(
