I picked up this book with the intention of getting through it quickly, a nice easy thriller to get my reading year started. Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect. Despite being only 333 pages, it felt like a slog to get through because of the poor decision-making skills of our heroine (Darby) and hokey writing. I wouldn't say I'm a thriller aficionado, nor do I have a mind for strategy, but I was still incredibly frustrated by Darby's actions and lack of foresight. Needless to say, I'm a little baffled by the high ratings this book has. The premise had such great potential but the story did not deliver. I'm tired.
