Doctor Who: The Price of Paradise by Colin Brake

4.0

This was the first Doctor Who book I've read and it was fairly good. The Doctor and Rose Tyler come across a planet where the perfect eco-system has gone out of whack and is doing its best to expel what it considers foreign matter from the planet. For those of you who have seen the series 4 episodes "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead" may see some parallels in this book.[return][return]The real strength in this book, like in "The Stone Rose," is that we have Rose away from the Doctor for a good part of the story and we see how capable she is as a companion. Unfortunately, there is no real character development beyond what is already established in the television series. It's a good, overall romp with the Doctor and Rose at the helm, but unlike "The Resurrection Casket," it doesn't explore anything new or unanswered. Definitely worth the price if you want to kick back and relax for a couple of hours.
