I found this to be an intriguing novel, expertly crafted from a female viewpoint. I relished learning about gifted musicians raised in an orphanage and the numerous allusions to composers from that era. The author's description of Anna Maria experiencing sound and song through color, which brought the narrative to life, was another wonderful touch.
