This book did a really good job of making the characters more dimensional and giving the relationships more depth, but I just couldn't with the stupid mummy. I don't even know what it was, it just felt so out of place even for a paranormal mystery story. It was immortal anf powerful and unbeatable and then it was brought down by a fire axe. Eh.

The macho-alpha-male bs is a little strong with this one, but I guess that comes with the werewolf territory (pun unintended). Not a bad follow-up, the character felt more fleshed out – it was however a little bit disappointing that Henry was asleep for 85% of the story, the relationship between him and Vicki felt a little stilted with almost no proper interaction.

Has held up surprisingly well for being almost 35 years old. Nothing life changing but quite entertaining and well written. I think I remember not enjoying the rest of the series quite as much, but I will give them another try for sure.

Look, I know we are reading romantasy here and it's kind of expected, but the sex is getting so annoying. How many lightning-striking orgasms can you have, Jesus Christ. Especially when you're not even supposed to fuck. But I digress.
The world is still fun, but these books are too long, there is too much little stuff crammed into them, everything is happening too fast and not fast enough at the same time ... I don't know. I will read the rest of the series for sure because even though I roll my eyes a lot, it still has me wanting to know how it ends, but this should have never been a five-book series. Put it in three books. There is too much filler-episode stuff going on and I am not here for it.

Ohhh, I really struggled with this one ... I think I expected something different from the blurb calling the book funny and clever and was a little taken aback by the sheer amount of violence that just casually going on. I did not find any of it particularly funny. Queenie really grew on my by the end but for about 150-200 pages i was just mentally screaming at her.
I think the book tackled mental health really well and I enjoyed the realistic depiction of Queenie's battles with anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. but overall this just really wasn't my vibe.
Also, fuck Ted. What a dick.
