These characters are so stubborn and cannot communicate with each other and one dimensional!

Loved the basis on historical events. Captured an atmosphere of 12th century while also feeling so modern. Great prose, memorable characters, would lend itself to great discussions of female power, relationships, ego, legacy.

What a wonderful world to get lost in. I’m predisposed to be interested in historical MA homes, but really admired the creativity that Mason applied to his cast of characters to this old home. Every chapter felt deep, even if the time spent with each owner and time period was brief. Loved that he wasn’t afraid to get weird and involve the supernatural.

Loved the mix of historical fiction, magic realism, and found objects like diary entries, letters, and modern day correspondence to give perspective.

The fatphobia stuff was distracting, but I loved the characters otherwise.
