The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Incredibly descriptive story of what love a father and son have as they travel a world that has long been what it once was, trying to survive. It's not a long read but not an easy one either. If you can get past the unique, distinct style of McCarthy then I definitely think you'll be glad you did.
