This book was alright. It was really boring in the middle but the ending saved it from being terrible. I expected more on the fantasy behind water witches. That backstory would have made the story more interesting.

This book was torture! I have a hard time reading female characters that seem so weak but you know they're strong, and eventually they see the strength in themselves! It's a classic YA recipe for a female hero! But alas, I still enjoy reading these books despite the classic pitfalls.

The ending was very satisfying. I was pleased with how Roth pulled the story together. I'm left with no further questions.

I found this book pretty good. It had some exciting aspects and was easy on the romance.

I really enjoyed this story. Many times, I find that celebrity bio's are attempts to humanize themselves and dull out unwanted advice. However, Gabrielle's was just real and straight forward.

Union didn't dwell on the sad topics, but just explained the facts. She showed her healing processes and was honest about how some pain goes unnoticed. It was also really funny. I was not expecting to laugh as much as I did. Union really does write like she's talking to a friend.

I also found this book flinchingly relatable for growing up in white suburbia. The only difference I envy is that I didn't get to spend my summers with black cousins to "ground my blackness!" I wish I did!!!
