Ash by Malinda Lo

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
It skipped too much for me between the real Cinderella and the whole fairy think. I couldn't wrap my head around it and did not enjoy the book at all.

Ash was not a likable character for me.

Goeie worldbuilding, romance had een betere opbouw mogen hebben. Verder mocht het boek dikker zijn om de magie uit te leggen.

Leest goed weg (fastpaced) dus zeker een aanrader.

I tried very hard to enjoy the book. But it was quite confusing. The relations, build between the characters, did not feel real at all. It all felt quite flat.

I also got a six of crows vibe, which doesn't have to be bad at all, but I would've loved less of that. And I wanted to read more about the tearoom turning in a vampire place. I've got a feeling it was just such a small fraction while adverts and stores said otherwise.

I was really disappointed. Love Hades and Serena did get the humor right. But it felt so chaotic. A load of repeating (especially in the beginning) and not telling more..about Hades.
I think there was a whole oppertunity not used. The ending also felt so rushed.

The role of Circe is superconfusing too. Her role and character changed quite a lot through the books..having her as a goddess too was a bit too much.

I had not anticipated on giving a high score because of the previous few. But really liked the fast paced character building.

Loved the writing style of Laini. But there were so many names I sometimes couldn't keep up. Hence the 4,5 instead of 5 stars. Also I didn't think Sparrow, Ruby and Feral had much role maybe in part 2 they do, but for now they just seemed...there?
