Having read and loved Catherine's first book, 'The Wrongun'. I was really excited for her second offering, 'All Grown Up'. I wasn't disappointed!

It's excellently plotted and written with a storyline that explores a few different strands of important and very relevant topical, societal issues. Posing questions and dilemmas surrounding rape, consent, statutory rape, and the  naivety of our young people when using social media. Making decisions they aren't necessarily emotionally, mentally, and physically equipped to deal with. The many far-reaching consequences that present themselves and the resultant impact that this has on the people and the lives that are caught up in it.

Throw in race, class, neglect, bad parenting, marital woes, cheating, suicide, young love, jealousy, sex tapes, parental abuse, drugs, and alcohol into the mix, and you have a thought-provoking, immersive and engaging read that you don't want to end.

The narrative is well paced. With multiple levels of depth, emotion, and fluidity. Being told from multiple perspectives, which really helps you to understand all sides of the story as it plays out.

The characters are diverse and brilliantly developed, multi-dimensional, relevant, relatable, and realistic. With some, you absolutely love and just as equally others you love to hate. But all of them play a part in giving a voice to the message that Catherine is trying to portray.

It's most definitely a difficult read at times. But one that should be read by everyone because of its relevant and important topical societal content.

I knew Catherine was a one to watch after her first book. All Grown Up has cemented that view, and I can't wait for what's to come.
