Wowza, what a cliffhanger!  Book 2 is being added to the TBR as we speak because you can not leave me hanging like that!

This book was much darker than I was expecting.  It deals with quite a few heavy topics, so please read the TW before reading. 

All that being said, I really enjoyed this book.  Brittany does a great job of creating layered characters with complex backstories.  I really like Carrie's character.  Despite recent tragic events in her life, she shows strength and resilience.  Grayson, while hired to bring her home, turns out to be her morally grey, German Shepherd watchdog.  These two have excellent chemistry, and I enjoyed watching them slowly open up to one another.  I'll definitely be reading the next book and look forward to reading some of the other series in Brittany's interconnected universe.
