The second installment of Finlay Donovan's adventures was PACKED with excitement and action. It picked up right where book one left off with Finlay accidentally stumbling into a new career as a contract killer? I loved the dark humour and craziness that Finlay and Vero brought to this story. Their wit and sarcasm are top-notch and kept me chuckling throughout the book. I enjoyed the mysterious twists and turns throughout and loved seeing more of our hot detective, Nick. I've already got book 3 queued up and ready to go!

I recently read the fifth book in this series and loved it so much that I'm now going back and reading them all from the beginning. While I got to know Finlay a bit in the other story, this one showed me who she was and where she came from. It was great to see the origin of her and Vero's friendship as well. I felt so bad for Finlay's character at the beginning of this book, but I loved seeing her grow and overcome and triumph over her life circumstances. I enjoyed the humour in this book, and the mystery element held my interest right up until the end. Looking forward to continuing this series!

I've been hooked on this series since Emerald Dawn came out last year, and book 2 did not disappoint. From the very first page, you are completely immersed in this fantasy world. The book has you on the edge of your seat for almost 700 pages and still leaves you wanting more. I loved getting to know Reina more and seeing her come into her power and develop her relationships. While I did enjoy the romance element, the plot in this series is really what has a hold on me. I believe this series is going to be four books long, so we're halfway there already. Can't wait to read more!

First off, thank you for writing a romantasy book that has a grown-ass woman as the FMC! That's an instant win in my books, but there was so much more to this book to love. Alix is plucked from her disasterous normal life and dropped into a Fae world of curses and intrigue, and she may be the key to saving all of them. While somewhat predictable at times, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey on every single page. I love Kate's writing style, and this book is no exception. It was well-paced, and I felt like we got to know our characters (and this new world) well throughout the book. This book is heavily inspired by Beauty & the Beast and Anastasia (two of my personal favourites), and I loved all the little nods to them. This was a great start to a (hopefully) long romantasy series!

How good it felt to be back in Smoky Heights! Weston is our ultimate Golden Retriever MMC and falls hard for our true-crime-loving, nomadic black cat FMC, Amelia. Much like Madison's first book in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed Strike the Match. Being back in Smoky Heights felt like coming back home to old friends. This story is full of humour and heart and felt like a big warm hug to me. Don't let that fool you, though; this book is also HOT! Weston has a dirty mouth on him that would make any girl blush, and he is packing some serious heat. The sexy banter was fantastic, and I feel like Van Gogh should get an honorary spot in this throuple. It was another fantastic book from Madison. I can't wait for the next one!
