Stalking Jack the Ripper, was a story I quite enjoyed reading. I liked the timeline, I liked the characters, and I didn’t mind the romantic interest at all. In fact I thought he brought humor to the story. I didn’t think that the interest took away from the main plot of the book- which I was grateful for, because I find YA tends to get off track with the plot due to a romance. I predicted the antagonist at the beginning. Yet, the book was still enjoyable, I always want to know if my hunches are actually right with a mystery.

**Spoiler**

My only compliant was that some of the writing didn’t fit the time period. There seemed to be a modern spin with some of the verbiage. Specifically when letters from Jack the Ripper were being sent to the police, how they were written, I found something similar to text lingo. Whether this was intentional or not, I wasn’t a huge fan of the mixing and is why I give it 4 stars.
For a first book, very well done!

I enjoyed the perspective of this book. The middle of the story seemed to drag on, but the ending picked up and left you feeling and thinking.

This book moved me deeply. I have not wept while reading a book in quite some time. I have not felt so deeply towards all characters in a book, ever. I saw my friends, family, and myself in these characters. Anxious People was everything I had hoped it would be, and then some. A novel that has beautiful writing, and a strong story that displays humanity and anxieties in a deeply empathetic way. I am moved. I will be thinking about Bachman’s characters, and this particular story for years to come.
