I'm honestly not surprised by how much I loved this book. In a way it was everything I wanted but still managed to exceed my expectations. Katherine Arden's writing is so immersive and she knows how to make you feel things while reading. The plot was absolutely incredible, I couldn't stop reading for 2 days straight, I connected with the characters right from the start and my heart was in shambles by the end of it. Everything within this book is so so so incredibly well done, so please do yourself a favor and pick it up.

I only blame myself for picking this up.
A lot of tell-no-show, juvenile, messy and un-original.

Everything about this book was absolutely spectacular and worked so well for me. The complexity of the world, the TENSION between Raeve and Kaan, the slow-burn and the angst, the unpredictable plot .. it checked all the boxes for me and i crave more. I was on the edge of my seat, reading until late hours for the past 3 days and this book saved me from the most vicious of slumps.

This was so freaking excellent! Every single word hit home, i fell more in love with the characters, the plot is .. explosive and the romance (whatever little bit there is of that) is just so damn delicious. I love the fact that this series so far is delivering on the old fantasy — 2005 plot driven stories like vibes i was craving!

A very strong debut. Slow but steady. You get immersed into the story, the world and the plot bit by bit and it’s just the beginnings of a fantasy series i was craving. I’m honestly super excited to see what the rest of this series holds.

I have a big grin plastered across my face because this was just downright adorable. My very first Ali Hazelwood and it did not disappoint. The writing captured me write from the start, and i was thralled *pun intended*. I absolutely loved every single character, i loved how emotional, witty and captivating the story is. I need more, please! When you pull an all-nighter and find yourself kicking-your-feet, smiling like an idiot and giggling like a fool, you just know that the book won over your heart.

I went from *I really don't give a fuck* to *oh-my-god just kiss already, kicking my feet, giggling and reeling* over the romance in the span of 200 pages and it was glorious. I need more.
