I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. There was a lot of action and I found all of the characters interesting. The good and the bad guys had more layers to them than I expected and their interactions with Bond were a lot of fun and pretty tense at times.

fter seeing a lot of good reviews for this series, I decided to give it a go.
When I realised how young the main character was, it put me off initially as I was worried the writing would be too childish, boring, etc, for someone in their 30s. The book starts with Jason being only 5 and eventually to the present aged 11 so I was sceptical.
While it's a pretty far-fetched plot, it was entertainin and the family side of it (Jason's relationship with his father) was an emotional affair throughout.
I will say, though, that for books geared towards younger readers, it is very violent. I'm also not sure how I feel about the romance aspect of it, considering how young they are. It seems a bit weird that it's not more monitored or some talk not given. Which are reasons why I couldn't give it 5 stars.
I do plan on reading the rest of the series.

When I first started reading, I wasn't too sure whether I'd like this or not but as I got more into the book, I ended up really enjoying it.
Bit of a roller coaster of a book! Glad now that I also own the next three.

I'm a big fan of these types of kid spy books. The Alex Rider series is by far my favourite but as I'm already a fan of Charlie Higson, I thought I'd try this one.
Now, I'm not personally a fan of James Bond as an adult. I always found him rather boring, so I wasn't expecting to like this.
In the beginning, I wasn't particularly enjoying it. I kept comparing it to Alex Rider, where the action starts from page 1. Whereas with this, it was a rather slow start.
He's also not as confident as Alex Rider and definitely doesn't have the same skills he possesses in terms of fighting skills. I do like seeing the growth of Bond throughout the book and the story really ramped up when he left Eton for his holidays with his Aunt.
All in all, an enjoyable read and I plan on reading the others in the series.

Procrastinated finishing this because I didn't want the series to end. I know he has other series, which I have and plan on reading but would love more of these books!
Like more missions for a while and then what happens when get too old to be the cadets. Do they go their separate ways, lead "normal lives"?, join the main SAS as a team or individually?
Anyway, really enjoyed the series, some of the books slightly more than the others, this one wasn't my favourite but still a great adventure. Max is an impressive character.

Love the different settings each book does have, makes it even more interesting and tense, especially in the dodgy parts of a country with high risk situations.
Really enjoying this series.

When I was younger, I adored the Alex Rider series and even as an adult, it remained one of my favourites. So, going in to this, I had my younger self and current self' high standards for this type of book!
I didn't expect much and I thought that maybe as someone in their 30s, this would be too young or immature for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find interesting and complex characters who I found myself wanting to get to know more.
It was fast-paced with a great amount of action and the right amount of sentimentality in it. I think this would be great for any age, adults included (probably 11/12 and up as there is a fair bit of violence)
I'm glad to have found this series and look forward to reading the rest.
