I enjoyed how the character's lifelessness was portrayed and there were some impactful pieces of writing.  I would have rated this higher if there wasn't so much sexism. was a little hard to overlook for me.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 21%.
I lost the book and now I have no motivation to get it on my Kindle and finish it :/ the plot from the blurb barely even started in the first 100 pages so my interest has dwindled. I would've finished it if I didn't lose it though.

The characters in this novel are so easy to picture. The Housekeeper, The Professor and Root. The three of them will remain in my mind like living photographs for a long long time. This is one of those books that brings a smile to my face just by thinking about it :)
I love how this book makes you appreciate how beautiful mathematics can be even if it doesn't always appear in our tangible reality.
Honestly, I liked this alot more than I liked the Memory Police, although theyre both really different books. The writing style and the overall flow of the plot was much better, in my opinion.

What a charming book! It has such a simple quality to it but it really makes you introspect. I could read about how they make dorayaki for ages :') A huge part of this book revolves around this unlikely friendship between a young man, an old lady and a teenage girl and something about that friendship just touches my heart. This whole story reminded me of what truly matters in life. Definitely recommend!

I liked this more than I expected to. At first I was pretty sure I would end up getting 4 or 5 stars. The writing style worked for me even though it was very descriptive. It was atmospheric. I also liked the psychological concepts that were added throughout the book. The reason why I bumped it down is because it started to loose me in the middle. The mystery seemed to drag. Also, the ending was... ok.
