A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Unfortunately this fell flat for me. It concluded the trilogy well but only under technical terms. I wish the first book had just been a standalone. Maybe if they weren’t too busy boinking the entire second book this one would’ve been better. I did cry though?

“You deserve someone who will love you in all your damaged glory.”
I technically skipped a few, I couldn’t handle the 30 page story about an egg

Jesus fucking christ. The ending reminded me a lot of 1984. The spiral of the main character is initially gradual and then the book ends right at the point where the corrupt society has officially broken them. I took it as a reminder to maintain our humanity/gentleness and resist the callousness that can creep up on you from trauma/loss.

It only ~kinda~ ripped off Verity (by Colleen Hoover) and was mildly problematic BUT there was a sexy landscaper hero guy very funny very hot

Premise + plot are great, but it is not particularly well-written or necessarily poorly-written. I appreciate that it stands for mental health awareness and preaches against suicide. Basically: good, not great
