This was.. okay?
Although the pace was slower than I expected, it was still an addictive reading experience, even if the story only started to pick up near the end.

I actually liked Elsa and how her mind and inner monologue distinguished between her lust for Aiden and the cold facts of their past. She didn't easily forgive and forget, erasing herself the moment their relationship became more.

While I liked being in Elsa’s mind, I missed the dual povs. But, the ending helped me understand why it had to be in her pov only.

Connecting with the girls in the Legacy of Gods series has been challenging for me, what a pleasant surprise to actually enjoy the female leads so far.
(Not looking much forward for Silver and Nicole tbh tho)

Bully romances aren't typically my thing, and some parts weren't the most enjoyable to read, but by now I know what I’m getting into when picking up a Rina Kent book.

Weirdly, Elsa’s and Aiden’s connection felt a bit lacking.. idk if it's the fact that Aiden remained such a mystery or how their pasts clearly impact their relationship, consciously or not. I'm unsure how this is a trilogy, Rina must have something else up her sleeve because, so far, we've had a lot of filler chapters.

*The Rinaverse has its unique rating. Rina Stars carry their own nuanced meaning—too niche to be compared*

This might have been the tamest book Rina Kent has ever written. The bar is so low.

Let’s be honest, there was never going to be another rating other than five stars to say goodbye to this series.

Rina’s stories are dark and (very) fucked up, but her skill in crafting compelling, complex characters that get under our skin is in a league of its own. I'll miss these characters terribly, and now I want a whole book of just their group chats.

300 pages of nothing but foreplay and the most intense, addicting, sexual tension I’ve read this year and I ate it all up like it was my last meal on earth. I was glued to my Kindle from beginning to end. Was there even a plot? Couldn’t tell, couldn’t care.

This was painstakingly boring.

Rory is one of the most mind-numbingly dumb characters I have ever read. Still, her dumbness and lack of a personality come only second to her incessantly annoying and torturous use of bird-word/puns. She has ruined birds for me and I’m seeking compensation for mental damages.

I’m strongly convinced Angelo had never spoken to a woman for longer than 10 minutes before meeting Rory because him saying he finds women “boring, weak-willed and weak-minded” and then being utterly whipped by Rory had me HOWLING. What a treat, misogynistic, ignorant, impulsive hotheaded men are.

I started this series with [b:Sinners Condemned|60160772], and thank fuck I did, because I absolutely adored that duology, and I'm not sure I would have given it a shot if I had read this book first. I wasn't even considering reading this one because Rory and Angelo just didn't do it for me from the snippets I had of them. But then I kept thinking that if Penny and Rafe's books were so good, surely this one couldn't be that bad. Boy, was I mistaken.

Honestly, this is now my fourth book by Sketcher, and apart from [b:Sinners Condemned|60160772] and [b:Sinners Consumed|61886125], it has been nothing but a massive disappointment. At this point, I'm crossing all my fingers that Gabe and Wren's story is given justice and is worth the read, because I can’t deal with knowing an author is capable of delivering an amazing story and being deprived of that experience.

This duet is the perfect introduction to the next phase of the Rinaverse after the Royal Elite series.

Rina wrote endearing characters in Raina & Asher, who, at their core, just craved honest love and safety with each other—that I didn’t want to punch them is a big win. Also, I might have developed a massive crush on Rai based on nothing but barely there breadcrumbs.

3.5 fucked up Rina ★‘s

Rina, babe, you're back. I was seriously worried you'd been replaced by a clone. While "con non-con" still doesn't do it for me, you articulated and demonstrated that the fmc has given consent, knows what she's doing, and enthusiastically seeks it out. Now, can you please do the same in future books? Pretty please, with a cherry on top?

I've gotta admit, this book kept growing on me the more I read. Naomi's pick-me tendencies annoyed me to no end, but I couldn't help loving her. I adore her for her qualities as much as for her flaws. Her sarcastic clap backs fed me from beginning to end.
She's incredibly resilient for growing up after what happened when she was nine and how she handles the constant, evil bullying and hazing at school day in and day out.

Sebastian, though, really surprised me. His character evolved at a beautiful pace. From the cliché all-American fake smiles and fake life while secretly hating it all to progressively dropping his mask. His thoughts became more honest, more raw, darker, and freely depraved, careless of what he grew up protecting the world from seeing. At some point, I stopped despising him and started appreciating the sociopath he set free.

I liked that this book didn't start where Reina and Ash's duet left off, giving us Naomi and Sebastian's story from their beginning, building towards the events of the Lies & Truths Duet. However, Reina's accident was poorly introduced—too fast and random. It felt like Rina didn't know how else to unveil the events of the previous story.

My god, what a raging bitch Reina used to be! Actually seeing this side of her was eye-opening. It was one thing to hear others talk about how she used to be and another to experience it firsthand. What a conniving, mean little cunt!

I still can't believe how much I enjoyed this book. It took me completely by surprise, and I still have whiplash from the seven-year time jump.

Yes, Rina's plots are formulaic and repetitive. Do I wish that wasn't the case? Also, yes, but I've reached a point where I don't care anymore. I'm pretty sure the Rinaverse specializes in lobotomies because that's the only way I can explain the chokehold these books have on me.

Naomi & Sebastian were perfect. They actually spend time together, sharing their interests and connecting on a personal level beyond their sexual compatibility. I wish we could have gotten more domestic scenes and emotional intimacy in this duet because the few we got had me swooning.

Making the plot darker, more mature, and painful was the best decision Rina could have made. It completely changed the dynamic we were used to and made the angst of the unknown a stronger, palpable taste while turning the pages.

It's unfortunate the ending felt yet again rushed and just a highway of info dumping on how the obstacles in Naomi and Sebastian's relationship were quickly solved, but it is what it is.

PS: Reina being the n°1 fangirl of Naomi and Sebastian was the best cameo I could’ve asked for.
