I really enjoyed this read. I immediately loved all of the characters, even though there were so many so fast - I felt like I learned about them and remembered their names at the same pace as Hazel, which helped and felt very immersive.
The mental health representation is really refreshing and felt authentic both to the real world and also in regard to how finding out that you're a god would hit you!
The world is fascinating; I loved the elemental magic, astrological aspects, and mythos.
The prose is beautiful and I found myself making lots of highlights! There are lines that will definitely stick with me.
I felt like I had an emotional hangover afterwards, the ending hit real hard. I'm excited to see where the adventure goes next!

an absolutely beautiful, lush, atmospheric read. i could see it so clearly, it was incredibly cinematic. every line of the novel is steeped in salt water, draped in pearls, and threaded through with moonlight.
i loved the twists and turns in the novel - i was absolutely hooked. the love story is sweet and bloody and tender. eridanys was so incredibly endearing and i loved every bit of alba's bite.
so stunning and simultaneously grotesque. i know the characters and imagery are going to stick with me!

this whole read was a rollercoaster but perhaps not in the way the author intended; it had several good set ups, but absolutely fumbled every landing.
i don't care as much about the Harrison situation but my god Becca getting the dead wife trope and basically being a surrogate felt messed up, even if they did wait a whole decade. and when they did admit their feelings, the way they got together felt... so rushed and forced. if i had been in love with my best friend for 20 years and they finally confessed they felt the same, i'd be a crying mess and need to talk - not immediately rush them into a whole world of sex they'd never experienced before. but maybe that's just me!
