I saw this book suggested during Native American Heritage month so I put it on hold. I thought it was memoir and it def was not. It's great storytelling of the history of Native American stand up comedians on American and Canada. I learned so much about the struggles Native Americans have faced but also how communities can heal through supporting one another and lifting each other up. Also this book was a reminder of how important representation can be.

This book really reminded of how interconnected the struggles are of marginalized folks around the globe.

Great storytelling! I had been meaning to read a book placed during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and I am so glad it was this book. I loved how the author interwove real people with the fictional characters in a realistic way. This book exposed me to a setting (1980s NYC) and character (flamboyant gay black man) that I don't read often. I always love learning new things and being entertained while I learn so yeah def a great book! I was also impressed that this book covered serious and dark concepts but left me feeling hopeful overall.

The only reason I finished this book was because it was only 3 hours as an audiobook. And I am behind in reaching my reading goal. I didn't like the themes of how masculinity was presented in the book.

This is a book that's outside of my current reading genre but I am so glad I stuck with it! I love the magical realism of it and the lyrically writing. It's a romance but also a story about trust, trauma, identity, and others. I really enjoyed it!

I loved this book. I feel like the author was ambitious but did a great job in getting their themes and message to the reader in an interesting science fiction setting.
