TW: ableist slurs
First of all, white people stay being a mess, lol.
But this book, oh boy, this book is so damn good and so fricking easy to get through. Like I don't even know how to explain how easy it is to just get lost in this book and just feel it flow as you read. Not for a moment while I was reading did I feel distracted, like I couldn't concentrate or got lost somewhere. The whole time I read it just went, flowing!
The characters are amazing and there's something so beautifully real about all of them. They all felt like people I'd meet, people I'd talk to, interact with, get to know. They felt real.
I love this book and certainly can't wait for more from the author!

I get it. I get why people are into this book, I really do. But I'm also so confused. Like what is Holden Caulfield. He is such a strange character and the way his thought process works is so strange but at the same time kind of familiar. He's an interesting character, he really is.
I must say that I really enjoyed this book a lot, it was interesting and funny and really enjoyable, but one thing: WTF KIND OF ENDING WAS THAT!?

First of all my good people, WTF!?? That ending has me messed up because what the hell, what in the good earth is that ending. How did anyone allow that ending!??? RUDE!
This book is so damn good and I'm so sad that it's over. I can't believe how much happened. From the about the 30% M. R. Carey does not let a person breathe, everything just keeps coming and coming and coming and I have not recovered yet and I don't know if I'll ever recover, especially after that ending. I mean, what was that ending. Like holy shit!
I swear I was expecting something different, I was expecting a World War Z kind of ending, but boy was I fooled. I'm not even sure how to react to the ending because all I did for a good minute was screech and then laugh in disbelief.
Holy shit.
This is a damn good book and I hope the movie is just as good!

It took a while for me to get into it, but when I did I got in deep. It was nice, I enjoyed it but the celeb name dropping was A LOT. But it's okay, it's a cool book and I liked it by the end.

My sister definitely enjoyed this one more than I did. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't for me.

TW: sexual assault, abuse, allusion to underage sex
This book wasn't as bad as I originally thought it out to be. When I first read it I honestly thought it would either be a DNF or would be rated at a one (1) or a solid two (2) stars. But I found that despite its short comings this book is actually enjoyable.
The book focuses on a Matric (equivalent to senior in America and year 12 in England) student who's from a poor background. Roli barely has enough money to buy lunch and usually finds herself borrowing money from her friend Kedibone. It's on one of these days that Kedi suggests Roli get herself a sugar daddy so she never needs to borrow cash. At first Roli is opposed to the idea, but after some time warms up to it. Kedi decides to introduce Roli to one Bra Big, who is sugar daddy complete with potbelly.
Things seem blissful at first, with Bra Big treating Roli to fancy places and helping rebuild her home and buying her all the latest fancy thing. She's happy about that even though the sex revults her.
Things take a turn when Roli no longer wants to continue being a sugar baby though. Her mom (who's trash hiding behind a Bible) keeps encouraging her daughter to stay with Bra Big when Roli expresses a desire to leave the relationship. Her mother's biggest concern is losing face with neighbours and losing the fancy lifestyle. How trash!
Eventually Roli gets her life back, breaks up with Bra Big, finds Jesus and turns her life around.
I wish I could say the ending is good but I'm still confused about WTF happened there. Like it seemed to be going a good way but then all of a sudden Roli is waking from a bad dream and I'm confused. I was confused for most of the book if I'm being honest. It felt as though there were chunks of the book missing, as though Nape 'a Motana was giving us half formed thoughts, like it was going “and then this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened”, and at times chapters ended so abruptly and with litte explanation. It was weird.
It was enjoyable too, there were funny parts and teachable moments, but overall the story was choppy.

This seems lazy, I'm only like 9% away from finish this book but my heart can't do it, not anymore. I don't want to say I'm disappointed, but I kind of am. For all the hype this book has gotten for years I expected so much more. Like gang, have you heard about the goodness that is this book?
And I was feeling the goodness too. For a while I understood why this book is loved so much. But then like wow, if started letting me down somehow. Like all the excitement I was waiting for was reduced to a page and then most of it ended up being kind of boring (the battle of the five armies, what are you

The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace

TW (to be safe) abuse, sexual assault, suicide, eating disorder, death, trauma
This collection. My lawrd, this collection.
These poems are so beautiful and tragic yet they build and fight. I love this collection so much and it hurts but it also makes me happy.
Amanda Lovelace is a gifted poetess and it takes strength to be this vulnerable and she allows herself to be and it puts me together in a way that I can't explain without hand gestures but. But lawrd, this collection is everything!
May the Princess save herself in everyone one of them!
