Millie is a vampire who has walked the earth for five centuries, and this immortal life has become tiresome. She is also plagued by the guilt of having to commit atrocious acts because of the vampire who sired her. In a word, Millie is bored.

Teddy is a young man with the energy of a golden retriever puppy. Despite a difficult childhood, he has decided to see the glass as full and enjoy life. In other words, he's Millie's polar opposite.

And yet, when Millie accidentally slams a door in his face, it's a case of instalust between these two characters. They don't know how to define the attraction they feel, but the feeling is undeniable.

This novella was at once funny and spicy, but also dealt with serious and important issues. It's a mix that can be dangerous if done badly, but in A Vow for the Vamp, Settle Meyer has managed to make all the elements work together in harmony.

I really liked this story. The chemistry between the two main characters is just incredible. I also enjoyed the fact that Millie is a confident character who is comfortable in her own body. I also appreciated the fact that Teddy isn't a young man with abs impressive enough to be used as a washboard, but that he had a dad bod that made Millie's mouth water as much as that of an Apollo.

Now I really want to know more about Layla and the gargoyle with whom she'll have to work.

I highly recommend this story, but suggest you read the TWs list before you start.

Thanks to Settle Myer for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was absolutely, deliciously dark.

I’ve read dark romances, I’ve read monster romances, but I don’t think I’ve ever read a book quite like this. The tone, the pacing, the style… I don’t think I can find a single thing I didn’t like about this book.

Nora and Alec’s respective dichotomies are incredibly well written. We discover all the secrets surrounding St. Thorne’s University at the same time as they do, but we also discover the mysteries surrounding them themselves. You really want to savour the story like a delicious meal or drink. You want to take your time and let the words soak into your mind—as a psychologist, Nora would have a field day dissecting all these thoughts.

I’m impressed with Clio Evans’ writing style. She can move from genre to genre with great dexterity. Honestly, I take my hat off to her.

By the way, the cover is absolutely gorgeous.

I highly recommend this book, but I would definitely recommend reading the trigger warnings first, as this book is not for everyone.

Many thanks to Clio Evans and Luna Literary Management for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I know there’s no such thing as perfection, but as I read the last few lines of this book, I think about how perfect this story really was.

Sadie and Lucas will stay in my mind and heart for a while. Nothing in their story was easy and yet everything was evident.

I think this must be the first time I’ve read a book with an unexpected pregnancy where the MMC is not the biological father of the child, and I have to say I loved seeing Lucas’ growing love for Sadie as much as for the child in her womb. I found it very beautiful and inspiring.

Sadie is a very courageous woman and I’m absolutely in love with her. Her story really resonated with me. I don’t want to say too much so as not to spoil the story, but her strength and resilience are inspiring.

I enjoyed following these three trimesters of pregnancy at the same pace as the characters.

I can’t wait to find out Isaac’s story and see the Goode family one last time before we sadly have to leave them 😢

What’s not to love about incredible stories involving sentient objects?

In Handle Me, Unfortunate Reads pulls off the incredible trick of focusing on the love story between a hockey player and his sentient hockey stick.

It’s a story that will leave you with a smile on your face when it’s over, but also with a hint of doubt about the fact that Jace never seems to wash his hockey stick 😂

Luca and Saoirse 😍

How I loved reading their story!

I’m a fan of both characters, individually and as a couple. Saoirse is amazing and I love her intelligence and sass. I already loved her in Dear Grumpy Boss, but this book just confirmed my impression. The same goes for Luca, who I really liked in the previous book.

Luca may not be the perfect man for every situation, but I really liked how much he believed in Saoirse from the start and how supportive he was of her. It’s hard to imagine them being anything but together.

I can’t wait to read P.S. You’re Intolerable, as Elliot has intrigued me so much since the beginning of the series.

The story was promising, and I was hooked by the first part of the book, but in the second part I found the plot disjointed and rushed.

I’ll definitely read the second book when it comes out, as I’m still curious to find out what happens next.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 29%.
I couldn't get past the uneasy feeling that FMC is 17 when she meets a 34-year-old man, who turns out to be her friend's father and the ex-boyfriend of the woman who takes her in while she runs away from a home where her father beats her.

She has known nothing but an abusive father and an absent mother, so perhaps psychotherapy would be more useful than becoming attached to a man twice her age. A man who should have put the brakes on this relationship when he learned of the FMC's age and past.

In short, I couldn't go on with this book in good conscience.

It was so good and now it’s already over 😢

I think with this second book of the duet, Sloan Spencer has become an author whose next books I will be looking forward to with great anticipation.

It was such a pleasure to be a part of Cora, Jay and Marco’s lives. Their complicity, their love, their desire… It was all just incredible. There wasn’t a single moment when I felt that these three characters weren’t lifting each other up by helping each other through their difficulties. The communication that exists in this polycule is one of the reasons why you know these three are meant to be together forever.

The book hangover I now have from these books is one of the strongest I’ve had in a long time.

I highly recommend all of Sloan Spencer’s books.

The first book I read by Sloan Spencer was Every Version of You, which I loved. It was only natural that I wanted to find out more about Cora, Jay and Marco, so I decided to read The Structural Duet

This is another one of my favourites. Sloan Spencer has a gift for writing emotions. We experience what her characters are going through, whether it’s through their fear, their joy, their sadness or the incredibly spicy scenes that happen between these three people 🥵

Even though it’s a fiction, it all seems to come straight from the real world. It’s unbelievable and enjoyable at the same time. I already liked the little I had seen of Cora, Jay and Marco in Every Version of You and with this book I really fell in love with this trio.

I haven’t read one of Elle Thorpe’s books for a while. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I hadn’t had the occasion. Wife Number One had been on my radar for a few weeks, mainly because I’d seen that there was a plus-size FMC and I’m trying to read more books with plus-size characters.

I really enjoyed this book. The anguish and emotional turmoil that Kara feels is really palpable through the chapters that are written from her point of view. There are certain moments in the story that I wasn’t expecting at all, which surprised and even moved me.

Hawk annoyed me a bit at first, but I quickly grew fond of him when I saw how he treated Hayley Jade and the bond that developed between them. Hayden is also a very likeable character, and I couldn’t help but feel compassion for him in the face of the hardships he faces, as he is doing everything he can to cope with his situation. Finally, Grayson is a character I can’t wait to learn more about.

As the book ends on a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this series.
